Tax Strategy. Compliance. Representation.
Frank Mejia, EA

President, FMT Advisors LLC

An Enrolled Agent responsible for the strategy, the return, and the conversation with the IRS.

Frank Mejia leads FMT Advisors as an Enrolled Agent, a federally licensed tax practitioner authorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. He is President of FMT Advisors LLC, and his work spans tax preparation, planning and strategy, business structuring, and IRS representation.

The practice is deliberately personal. Clients speak with a licensed professional who knows their file, decisions are explained in plain language, and planning conversations happen while there is still time to act on them.

The three words on the firm's card, tax strategy, compliance, and representation, describe a sequence as much as a set of services: plan carefully, file precisely, and stand behind the result if the IRS has questions.

The credential

What an Enrolled Agent is.

Enrolled Agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards. It is federal, it is specific to taxation, and it carries unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS.

Licensed by the U.S. Treasury

Enrolled Agents are licensed by the Department of the Treasury through the IRS. CPAs and attorneys are licensed by individual states; the EA credential is federal and is recognized before the IRS everywhere in the country.

Earned through examination

Candidates pass the three-part Special Enrollment Examination, covering individual taxation, business taxation, and representation, practices and procedures, or qualify through relevant IRS experience. Every candidate also passes a suitability check that includes their own tax compliance history.

Kept current

Enrolled Agents complete 72 hours of continuing education every three years, including ethics, and renew their enrollment with the IRS on a three-year cycle.

Bound by Circular 230

Treasury Department Circular 230 sets the rules of practice before the IRS: duties of competence and diligence, rules on conflicts of interest, and standards for the positions a practitioner may take on a return.

How we work

Four commitments that shape every engagement.

Precision

Every figure has a source, every election has a deadline, and every return is reviewed before it is filed.

Candor

If a strategy does not hold up, you will hear that plainly, along with what would.

Access

Questions go to the professional responsible for your work, and they are answered in plain language.

Continuity

Tax is a year-round subject. The practice that prepared your return is the one that answers the notice.
